Lujan Matus – Lo Ban Pai-Testimonials Page 17

Learning Dragon’s Tears is a very direct way to develop an active relationship with chi, or the energetic currents that flow within our body and in the world at large. For me, these sessions of Dragon’s Tears have been the most unmistakable experiences of chi that I’ve ever had. I have practiced many forms of movement including Swimming Dragon, Capoeira, Yoga and various forms of dance, all of which were highly enriching and challenging in different ways, but none of which had the immediacy of the energetic effects of Dragon’s Tears, especially when combined with Tapping.

Dragon’s Tears surpasses ordinary physical practices. This series has magical qualities that become apparent when practiced and powerful upon refinement. What is transmitted within the movements is layered and subtle, extending beyond what meets the eye and drawing one into alignment with a mesmeric flow of shamanic purpose.

Informed by an in depth knowledge of the functional (muscular, nerve and energetic/meridian) systems within the body as well as the adept application of age-old martial techniques, Dragon’s Tears’ origins are clearly ancient and more than a little mystical. Practicing brings into play our intimate connection with a vast and unfathomable universal network, sensed through the energetic link that arrives into our hands and surrounds in ribbons and forcefields, becoming startlingly obvious at times.

I have been learning Dragon’s Tears for the last three weeks and I can feel that I am becoming more contained and potent. I’ve tasted new levels of intuition and dreaming that I am certain are linked to this practice and which for me are very encouraging signs that I am on the right path. I am grateful to have the opportunity to dive right in to such interesting aspects of experience through the discovery of these movements.

The form itself is fairly detailed to learn but such is it’s essential nature that the body is compelled to remember and perform the sequences with uncanny magnetism. I have been surprised by how quickly myself and others were able to absorb so much bodily and energetic information.

Electromagnetism plays a big part in the practice as all movements address different levels of the whole organism, including chakra centers, internal organs, articulations and bone marrow. Gestures glide along currents and channels that draw the hands into the right place and define points of arrival, felt as pressures, edges and even walls of energy that guide the precision of ones movements.

The relationship with chi becomes absorbing and enjoyable as it tingles and dances in the hands, strong and present yet delicate and elusive. There is a fine line to be found – clearly indicated when practicing by the sensations that appear – between activation and allowing. If the hands are too relaxed, no energy comes. The gestures and mudras must be ‘activated’ at all times and the form practiced with full engagement. At the same time if the movements are overstated this disallows the reception of that which arrives. Attempting to forcefully elicit the process yields no result other than a blunt experience of that exertion.

These are powerful living metaphors which, when experienced as a bodily truth, are deeply absorbed as life lessons: known without needing to be explained and more fully understood than through the medium of the mind.

The sensations of drawing, absorbing and cooperating with chi are very agreeable and make you want to dive deeper into this subtle yet powerful exchange. The motivation to continue is invited and rewarded as the intricacies that facilitate the true magic within the movements are fascinating to discover, unlocking wellsprings of energy and sensitivity. As the practice deepens you begin to forget yourself in the sorceric flow that is the true hallmark of Dragon’s Tears and each session yields new thresholds of experience

Small Mountain was my second program on this visit following a week of learning Whispering Palms. This meant my palms were already very active and performing Small Mountain in this state is a very different experience.

Learning the Form

Because Small Mountain is a sister form of the Jaguar, learning it was a whole lot easier. The Jaguar took me two weeks to get. Lujan has standardized the programs recently, so new students should not have this problem, because they will have learned most of the basic movement architecture by the time they reach intermediate level and will have energy in their palms activated.

Details

Lujan is meticulous about the details and ensures one understands, but more importantly that one ‘gets it with the body’ by performing the movements until one can feel them work. Lujan taught me a novel way to use bio-feedback in training that allows me to self-correct my movements when I practice at home, so it flows and works with the body and energy flow, and works as a fighting form.

Energy Cultivation

As a fast coiling set, Small Mountain generates high amounts of energy in the body. Like the Jaguar series, It also teaches a certain skill at following energy at high speed. One can notice immediately when one loses the physical flow, and with it the link between the palms and the energy paths around the body. While most Eastern energy cultivation practices comprise slow movements, this is a full-speed practice.  This energy is then applied in the Three Treasures, but also in Small Mountain itself.

Integrating the form into the Three Treasures Set

Since it is designed to fit into the Three Treasures with the Jaguar Series, my Three Treasures practice is now complete. After only a few days the difference is clear. The complete Three Treasures is at once challenging physically and rewarding energetically.

Martial form

I have a love for traditional Chinese martial arts, and since Lujan is passionate about it the stage was set. Small Mountain teaches and drills more signature movements of the Shadow Fist system. Bio-shock: While I have studied Chinese martial arts for many years, I never quite got the ‘combat state’ activated. Lujan had me apply the Small Mountain by crossing hands with him. We were both shocked by the sudden change in how I moved. That resolve and focus was suddenly there as if my magic. This despite my not having studied kung fu with Lujan yet.

With learning going well, Lujan shared many applications of Small Mountain and it was astounding to see how a few unique principles can both create such a wide range of effective applications, and set one up to have advantage in combat. Lujan does not deal in theoretical techniques. Shadow Fist is an up-close, direct, deal-closing system designed to work. I can’t wait to learn the rest!

The Learning Experience with Lujan

Just great thanks! As a Nagual, Lujan is direct and to the point. He remains focussed and ensures larning sinks in before moving on. Lujan is also kind, generous and on the side of the best in you. I always enjoy learning with Lujan.

Since Lujan is the product of what he teaches, this alone would keep me coming back to learn. No matter the program you take, you will always receive more, since Lujan will give as much as you can take.

Thank you again Lujan. Your gifts, time and attention are most appreciated.

The Team

I can say I met extraordinary people. The Team was amazing, providing guidance through the Dragon’s Tears movement series, as well as in creating an atmosphere of love, patience and support, surrounding all of us, the students.

I had the honor of meeting them all and spending time with them, and can say I have 5 new friends for life… And they have my friendship, unconditionally….

I have the amazing experience of looking myself in each and everyone’s eyes, but at the same time, I also saw each and every one of them, with their own essence, so unique… So true… It was as if I already have met all of them, a feeling so familiar…

There was also something amazing, and it was the ease of Lujan to cut through our facades, but with so much love, compassion and tact that all of the hearts of the participants opened to such a degree that we shared tears of joy, tears of sadness, tears of surrender and tears of hope. As a matter of fact, I think more than 5 marriages were ‘saved’

The Dragon’s Tears

The movements are incredible. I have had a little experience with martial arts, but this was something completely different… It was a communion of energy and art, and being aware of this interaction was eye (and ‘mind’) opening.

The movements are so fluid and perfect, that at some point I “saw” music, a symphony, a pas de deux with its own overture, movements and tempo, closing and chorus… Again, art manifested in our own bodies.

The more we were advancing into the full set of the Dragon’s Tears, the more we open, the more energy filled the room, at a point where the last day, the ‘heat’ was overwhelming. (Perhaps I should change ‘heat’, for the manifestation of energy, electromagnetism, emanating from our own selves).

Also as we became more proficient, the movements started to make sense by themselves, to a point where every movement felt ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ when not performed as it should be. There is very little room for error, it feels ‘just right’ if done properly -but of course, like anything, practice permeates the movements into ourselves. As the movement becomes unconscious, the ‘magic’ manifests more and more.

At the end of the practice days, I found myself in a different level of attention (or consciousness)… In my own experience, I was able to gaze at the stars and feel a connection with my heart center, while also being able to see the auric emanation of trees in the surrounding areas… Everything was just radiant… Everything was just perfect.

It is very difficult to put in words all that was opened within myself, my own experience at the learning and practice of The System…

Quoting Lujan’s words, “…Everything is a gesture…” And I’ll make my life a gesture to The Infinity, hoping I can leave something behind me… Hoping I can take something with me; A gesture, an emotion….

Wishing nothing but the best for each and every one of you.

With love,
Juan Lazcano
